After the processes of listening and reading are all over, even after ¡®I¡¯s¡¯ speaking stops at the end of the story, ¡®You¡¯ the reader will undergo another process of oblivion, carrying on the process of speaking indefinitely in a rich variety of fashions. The reading experience, even when it has gone to the other side of oblivion and no longer remains in consciousness, even inside the unconscious, keeps conversing with the other experiences and at times influences the reader¡¯s life in one way or another. ¡®Beginning the End¡¯ is to participate in the oblivion¡¯s march during which the self is erased. Through the march, the lives of those, who have considered themselves as isolated individuals, begin overlap with one another; and that is when an exceptional event called ¡®dialogue¡¯ occurs.

What They Say About Kim Keun

º»¹®Áß¿¡¼

One day a beast arrived
It walked through the alley
with languid strides and
climbed over the wall with
its long arms It strode up
the steps and opened my
bedroom door It walked as
though through water its long
fur undulating It approached
me slowly yet a strand of hair
swayed slowly remaining at
each place it passed(...)
- From the Prologue

The production of this poem was riddled with resurging moments of excitement, despair, doubts and delays. In the midst of it all, though, I tried hard, to the end, not to stray from such concepts of writing as contingency and improvisation. Perhaps, the poem still needs more contingencies and improvisations. But this is the limit of my ability. Even if the limit already lay in store for me from the moment the man awakened in the dark, I have no choice but to love it. It may be the limit of my language and at the same time, that of the world that I am situated in. After having fallen desperately in love, I will be ready to cross over again. In that new sphere of creation, I believe, I will try to construct yet another exciting world of Language where loquacity, speculation, incoherency, or perhaps some other things germinate and grow to the full. I also believe that such attempts of mine may end up in failure.
