Evergreen Forest on Oeyeondo Island, Boryeong is located along the ridgeline at the back of the town and it has lots of rare plants and trees. The camellias in this forest are said to have been planted when the islanders visited the southern area hundreds of years ago. They are also believed to have been planted by Chinese General Jeon Hoeng who came here with his soldiers when they were fleeing from the Han (Chinese) race. As the forest on Oeyeondo Island has been preserved the original look of the island, providing good conditions to induce fish to come to the shore, it is designated and protected as a natural monument.
